CANTOR'S MUSIC SCHEDULE Click For Winter 2008 Schedule
I am so pleased to see everyone returning and our new members. I look forward to our usual fun and excellence as we help St. Gabriel's experience God's love through the voices of our talented young people. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: · Please try to be on time for all rehearsals; if we start on time, we can end on time. · For all masses the choir is singing, please arrive 30 minutes ahead of schedule. · Boys dress: white or light colored button-down shirt and tie (blazer optional) · Girls dress: dress or skirt · If you need to reach me weekdays call (201) 391-8018 or email jscorese@optonline.net · I have a new "solo" policy: While I certainly realize we have a lot of talent and that many (if not all) of your (and my) children want a solo moment in "center stage," I simply cannot continue the practice of trying to feature every member. It takes too much time away from the "choir" aspect of our rehearsal. It sometimes engendered hurt feelings, and quite frankly, too many soloists last year were either under-prepared or didn't take the privilege seriously enough. Here is how members are to be featured going forward: Unless there is an emergency need, "Important Solos" are to be reserved for 7th and 8th graders only. Interested 4th – 6th graders can be in select "Duos/Trios," depending upon the programming for the given Sunday. So as to give them time to get used to singing with the group 3rd graders will be considered for Duos/Trios only in the Spring season. The criteria that I will use in selecting who will be featured is, as always, based on talent, maturity and professionalism. By "professionalism" I mean a demonstrated ability to take the challenge seriously, to work well with other choir members, to arrive at rehearsals and masses on time and prepared, and to work on the music at home.
